A young girl helping her mom cooking Christmas ham asks “mom, why do you cut the ends off the ham?”

“To be honest, sweetie, I don’t know…something about the juices? I do it because my mom always did. Let’s call her and find out.”

She dials her mother and asks “why did you always cut the ends off the ham”

The grandmother ponders this for a few mins and says “I dunno! There’s gotta be a good reason, but I do it because my mom always did…let me ask her”

She calls her mother and asks the question. The elderly great grandmother laughs and says:

“I cut the ends off because our first house had a really small oven, and I had to cut the ham so it would fit”

Love this little story because it reminds us to always question why.

The way you’ve always done things doesn’t always make sense.

How many times have you stayed in a bad job or relationship, or followed bad advice for too long before finally asking “why”?

When you realized there was no good answer, you couldn’t help but take action and drop the loser, change careers, or switch up the routine.

It’s like waking up.

This week is one of the best times of the year to reflect and re assess.

Are you living the life you want to live?

What went well, what didn’t go well this year?

What do you want the next year to look like?

This week’s podcast is an exercise in reflection…

We ask this and a bunch of other questions designed to help you review the last year, and plan for the new year.

It’s very different than any we’ve done in the past.

After finishing this one, you’ll have a good idea of exactly what went well in the last 12 months, and a plan for the first steps you’ll take to crush the next 12.

Thank you for listening
